Alien hand syndrome

Like in a horror film, the person's hand seems to be possessed by a force outside their control. But it's real, it existed it real life.

In medical term, it is known as Alien hand syndrome. The condition arises in the aftermath of brain surgery, a trauma to the brain, stroke or infection. Patients can feel sensation in the hand, but believe that it is not part of their body, and that they have no control over its movements.

In some cases, alien hands can perform complex acts such as trying to tear clothes or undoing buttons. Don't try that act though and claim it's the alien doing. You might end up behind bars.

There is currently no treatment for alien hand. All a patient can do to control the problem is to keep the hand occupied by having it hold an object.
