Police car tossed by tornado

In april 2007, in Laporte, Indiana a tornado sucked up a police car and was tossed 120 feet as the police officer was still inside. Detective Shayna Mireles said when she saw the tornado was closing in, she tried to get out of the car but the doors won't open due to the air pressure outside.

And by a blink of an eye, the tornado lifted the car over a 4 foot high fence, then landing on it's front end and rolled several times before it rested upside down 120 feet away. Miraculously, she only suffered a cut on the forehead, some bruises and a black eye.

A Valparaiso University meteorologist said Mireles is lucky to be alive because motorists whose cars are struck by tornadoes most often die.
