The headless wonder chicken

We've heard that a cockroach can live without it's head until it die of hunger. Have you ever heard that a headless chicken can live?

It happens in 1945, when a farmer who were preparing the chicken for dinner failed to completely decapitate the bird named Mike. The Axe missed the jugular vein, leaving one ear and most of the brain stem intact and a clot blood had prevented Mike from bleeding to death.

After one night, seeing that the bird behaves like nothing has happen before, Farmer Lloyd Olsen decides to continually feeds the bird and see how long can it last. And all that effort made Mike gained weight from 2 1/2 pound the day it lost it's head to a healthy 8 pounds.

Mike were on display to the public for an admission fees of 25 cents. Since then, this famous chic was on all major magazines and papers like Time and Life magazines.

After living for 18 months without it's head, Mike eventually died from choking after the owner failed to find the syringe to help Mike.

Mike's legendary still lives on till this day, with an annual Mike the headless chicken festival will be held in Fruita, Colorado where Mike grew up.
